Anita Farber-Robertson
Praise for the Book
“This book liberates clergy from unproductive behavior by challenging everyday assumptions about ministry. In clear, readable, engaging form, here we find concrete guidance for doing ministry effectively. Placing Chris Argyris's Action Science in the context of church and synagogue, Anita Farber-Robertson makes use of several illustrative stories, revisited throughout the book, to help clergy assemble a toolbox for building a new way of relating. Ultimately, she's encouraging radical personal transformation—conversion, really. But there is plenty to learn and do along the way. Prophets and pastors alike will benefit from this book. It will start working for you on Day One.” —Scotty McLennan
“Anita Farber-Robertson has provided us with a new learning tool—a mirror aimed at the blind spot just beyond our peripheral vision. By researching our own behavior patterns, we can become 'responsible selves'—leaders whose actions are more fully aligned with our deepest values and beliefs. Such alignment is the true source of religious authority.” —Alice Mann
Anita Farber-Robertson is associate minister at Zion Baptist Church, Lynn, Massachusetts, and a community minister affiliated with the Massachusetts Bay District of Unitarian Universalist Churches. During twenty years in parish ministry, she has served both as a solo pastor and as the senior pastor of a multiple-staff congregation. She earned her doctor of ministry degree from Andover Newton Theological School, where she is now adjunct professor of communication and teaches D.Min. students to adapt the learnings of Action Science for use in congregational settings.
