Fifty million men, women, and children in America today live with physical, sensory, psychiatric, and intellectual disabilities - that makes fifty million people who have gifts and talents to contribute to America's more than 325,000 congregations whose members number in the hundreds of millions. The Alban Institute's mission is to strengthen these congregations and their leaders to be agents of transformation in our world today.
We encourage you to use our free list of resources to help you welcome and support individuals with disabilities by embracing their gifts and talents.
Read the Wall Street Journal piece by Mark Pinsky, "Making God More Accessible". Mr. Pinsky, a long-time religion writer, is at work on a book about congregations that welcome people with disabilities, to be published by Alban in 2010.
