The Power of Place.  Alban senior consultant Alice Mann is a strong believer that when we pay attention to the "place" where we do our ministry locally, we regain an essential source of vitality and vision for the church.  As communities around the world, including congregations, face an age of unprecedented change, it is no wonder that our imaginations are so easily overwhelmed with global concerns that we no longer notice the siginificance of the local context and the impact it has on the shape of the ministry we do.

This seminar is part of a larger, creative counter-movement that is challenging us to reclaim the the power of place to feed the human spirit and engender the strength needed for today's congregational ministries.

Start out the new year with a reaffirmation of the power of place, learning how to make your location in ministry into a dynamic asset for vitality and vision.  You will

  • Learn fresh concepts about location, such as the "soul of place."
  • Reflect biblically about the "significance of place" for ministry.
  • Engage in hands-on exercises for exploring the "meaning of place"

You will return home with an important new set of tools to use in your own congregation, able to claim the power of place to give new vitality and vision to your ministry.

open quote When it comes to helping congregations pursue their callings without their context, no one is better than Alice at transforming the conversation into a positive, fruitful experience. She is wonderfully wise, thorough, and down to earth.”
